Stannah, a family-run business with a global presence, operating in 13 countries and with nearly 160 years of dedication to quality, safety and innovation, is proud to announce it has produced its one millionth stairlift, a momentous achievement in its mission to improve independence and change people’s lives for the better across the globe.
Since the introduction of the Stannah stairlift in 1975 by Brian and Alan Stannah MBE, now chairmen of the business, the company has improved the lives of over a million people worldwide, helping them stay safe and independent in their own homes.
Not only a technological and manufacturing triumph, the production of 1,000,000 stairlifts is also a testament to the hard work and dedication of Stannah employees across the world. From engineers and factory teams to procurement, finance, IT, sales, marketing, installation, customer facing teams and service professionals, every member of the Stannah family has contributed to this remarkable milestone.
Stannah stairlifts have come a long way since their inception. Once large, bulky bench-seated devices, Stannah stairlifts are now known for their blend of ergonomics and aesthetic design, providing a wide range of easy-to-use features such as powered swivels and footrests while their more elegant form blends neatly into the home. Steady growth in sales over the years and Stannah’s position as one of the world’s leading stairlift providers has been driven by company’s relentless commitment to quality design, manufacture and customer service.
Jon Stannah, Group Managing Director, commented: “We are thrilled to celebrate this extraordinary milestone. The production of our 1,000,000th stairlift is a testament to our commitment to providing life-changing home accessibility solutions. Reaching this milestone means we’ve created a million smiles, and each one represents a life made easier, safer and more independent.”
The announcement comes as Stannah formally opens a new factory at its homebase in Andover, UK. At 8,300m2, the Pioneer Road factory represents a significant investment in Stannah’s future and its commitment to long-term growth, creating the facilities to support its next-generation solutions and employment in the Andover area.
Built to exacting sustainability standards incorporating 397,000kWh of solar energy amongst other things, the new facility significantly boosts the company’s production capacity, providing room for future expansion, ensuring that Stannah remains well-positioned to continue its legacy of advancements in the stairlift and homelift industry.
