A total of 41 of Britain’s top manufacturing companies have made it through to the finals of the UK’s largest and most rigorous industry awards programme.
With 2021 being such a challenging year, it’s arguably more important than ever to encourage, benchmark and celebrate manufacturing excellence – so we are delighted to announce a record year of nominations for The Manufacturer MX Awards 2021.
There are 54 finalists vying to win 10 category awards and ultimately the coveted title of Manufacturer of the Year. The shortlist represents the true diversity of UK manufacturing, ranging from smaller companies like Radwell International, and industrial giants like Siemens Energy and BAE Systems.
The Manufacturer MX Awards finalists now go through to the second round of the competition. Previous years has given judges the opportunity to have face to face encounters with the finalists via a site visit and factory tour. However, with COVID-19 restrictions still at play we have taken this process virtual. Finalists will send category judges video tours of factories and facilities to present detailed evidence of their entries in action.
Judges include previous The Manufacturer MX Awards winners, Fellows from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), representatives from each of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult Centres (HVMC), leading academics and industry experts.

The Manufacturer MX Awards are organised by The Manufacturer in partnership with IMechE. Entry and judging are at no cost to the participants, and it could not be possible without the support of The Manufacturer MX Awards sponsors: HVM Catapult, Capgemini, Santander UK, Hunter and Cranfield University.
The winners will be announced at The Manufacturer MX Awards ceremony and gala dinner taking place on 11 November at Exhibition Centre Liverpool. Book your tickets here here.
The evening will be the culmination and highlight of Digital Manufacturing Week – attracting more than 500 attendees to celebrate the very best of British industry over a sumptuous three-course dinner with a very special guest speaker.
Peter Flinn, president of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers added: “I am particularly pleased to support the announcement of this year’s finalists in the TMMX competition. Having been personally involved in TMMX and its predecessors for over 25 years as an assessor, judge, organiser and question-writer, I am glad to see TMMX up and running again in 2021 and to see the partnership between The Manufacturer and the Institution flourishing.
“The awards recognise that manufacturing is a major driver of our economy and is a sector based around rapid innovation, with engineers at the heart of change. More particularly, companies entering the TMMX Awards benefit from benchmarking and professional advice based on an audit of their business. This advice will assist them in driving improvement within their businesses enabling them to thrive in competitive markets.”
Katherine Bennett CBE, chief executive of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, said: “As the UK’s principal agent of industrial transformation, we are proud to be a judging partner for TMMX Awards. Awards like these recognise the innovation of manufacturers of all sizes and celebrate the boost that innovation brings to our economy. We wish all shortlisted companies the best of luck.”
