I am delighted to see uptake and enthusiasm among JD Edwards’ customers, field staff and partners throughout the JD Edwards ecosystem. This year the UK Oracle User Group customer conference attracted over 300 registered delegates, demonstrating a solid JD Edwards fan base.

Today our ERP go to market product is called Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, although Oracle continues to enhance and support Oracle’s JD Edwards World products for its existing customers.

We have delivered more product to market across the JD Edwards World and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne product lines in the past eighteen months than in any similar period in the history of JD Edwards and these deliverables include new major releases for each product line. New JD Edwards modules include Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Environmental Health and Safety, and Oracle’s JD Edwards65 Lyle Ekdahl, vice president and general manager of Oracle’s JD Edwards business unit, rebuffs suggestions from competitors that JD Edwards’ usefulness effectively came to an end with its acquisition by Peoplesoft and then Oracle. “If you run some process, some repetitive, and some discrete lines, then JD Edwards will make a good fit” Lyle Ekdahl, JD Edwards

We provided a whole new user interaction paradigm for our customers by leveraging Oracle technologies with rich user experiences, and applying them to our JD Edwards products. This gave users a very robust engaging environment. We also added features to improve productivity, such as carousel-based navigation and type-ahead search. Then we offered users the ability to personalise the look and feel for their own applications.

We asked our customers how they wanted to bring their business from ERP to the point of process. This led to leading applications and functionality on smart phones and iPads. In the case of iPads, we saw the use cases being very, very broad.

We took a new approach, and released full support on iPad for the entire suite.

Bang for your buck

JD Edwards’ real strength is that it offers big ERP functionality for a mid-market ERP price. Customers who have remained loyal to JD Edwards say they have a well-designed base product for manufacturing and other industries, with modules which easily scale up both functionally and technically as a business grows. We are a full suite tier one ERP at a price point that is more in line with a tier two ERP.

In recent years, JD Edwards has scored several big successes among global and mid-market companies. A large European spirits group is a customer, and at the UKOUG event an executive from one of its subsidiaries presented on JD Edwards’ Enterprise Mobility platform.

JD Edwards’ European business can concur. In the Benelux region, JD Edwards has had some of its best years ever – wine making in Italy and food and beverage, especially dairy, in the Benelux stand out.

JD Edwards remains strong in manufacturing. If you run some process, some repetitive, and some discrete lines, then Oracle’s JD Edwards will make a good fit. We look forward to maintaining and growing our customer base in Europe going forward.
