A collective of UK manufacturers has unveiled an exclusive collection of handcrafted copper pans, produced entirely in Britain and carrying the internationally recognised Made in Britain trademark.
The Heritage Excell Copper Cookware Collection brings together five Made in Britain members, each contributing a specialist component — from hand-spun copper bases and leather handle inlays to the packaging and tissue inserts that accompany the finished products. The initiative aims to champion British craftsmanship while supporting domestic jobs and supply chains.
Curtis Bligh, Head of Marketing Communications at Excell Metal Spinning, said the collaboration reflects a deliberate effort to work with accredited British producers. “The Heritage range is actively supporting 130 UK manufacturing jobs,” he noted. “Every aspect of this is totally sourced and made in Britain. The Made in Britain accreditation gives us a tangible advantage in a very competitive market… that’s why we have it laser-engraved onto our new range.”
Rigorous testing from top UK chefs
The performance and durability of the pans have been tested by Gary Pearce, head chef at Michelin-recommended restaurant 36 on the Quay, and TV chef and food writer Gill Meller. Made from 100% copper with a non-stick tin lining, the pans heat evenly up to 220°C, offering the durability and performance required by professional kitchens.
Gill Meller, known for his appearances on Channel 4’s River Cottage, praised the range’s build quality and British provenance. “They conduct heat instantly and evenly… and they’re 100% British, which I love,” he said. “Bottom line — you’ll probably never need to buy another pan again!”
A showcase of British capability
Among the Made in Britain members contributing to the collection are:
- Excell Metal Spinning – pan bases and handles
- The Tuning Shop – leather handle inlays
- ESSE Engineering Ltd – testing and performance development
- Bladen Box & Display – outer packaging
- Roach Bridge Tissues – tissue paper inserts
Alix Eltringham, Marketing Manager at ESSE Engineering Ltd, said compatibility testing was essential to ensure the pans work across modern and traditional cooking technologies. “They have performed excellently and are compatible with both induction hobs and cast iron hobs,” she said.
Made in Britain marks collaborative success
John Pearce, CEO of Made in Britain, described the cookware range as an exemplar of what can be achieved when accredited firms collaborate. “This is exactly what the Made in Britain mark is here to spark,” he said. “When members work together under a trusted national trademark, they create not just exceptional products but measurable commercial value… The Heritage range shows what happens when British manufacturers support each other.”
The collection is now positioned as a premium, ethically produced, and fully British-made alternative for discerning cooks seeking long-lasting, artisanal cookware.
