A Welsh-based manufacturer of vehicle exhausts for the automotive sector is to create over 200 jobs at its new Merthyr Tydfil facility.
Tenneco-Walker, which also employs 190 at its Tredegar site, is to create 224 new jobs in total while maintaining 36 people across its Welsh manufacturing workforce.
The new site, due to open later this year, will focus on the manufacture of added value component parts and undertake sub-assembly and final assembly exhaust system production.
Welsh economy minister Edwina Hart, whose government part funded the investment, said the investment is important both for the town of Merthyr and Wales as a country.
“It will provide a substantial boost to the local economy, creating more than 220 new skilled jobs in one of our priority economic sectors, offering a range of employment opportunities for local people,” she said.
“It’s excellent news and I am delighted that Wales was selected as the location of choice as a number of other sites in Europe were under serious consideration for this project.”
