Winder Power has launched its new £1m high-voltage test facility.

The new facility was funded by company profits and allows the Leeds-based power transformer and generator manufacturer to undertake full load tests on all of its transformers.

Providing detailed information on the performance of the transformers it manufactures, the company hope the facility will help to improve its competitive position.

The investment has increased the company’s workforce by 14% with 11 additional jobs created.

Despite the challenging economic climate, the company has maintained its focus on providing high levels of service and craftsmanship and has doubled its order book value in the last year.

General manager Paul Matthews said: “Winder Power is benefitting from a very strong order book and the investment in the high-voltage test facility has been an important contributory factor.”

A spokesman for Winder Power added that the demand for the investment stemmed from large orders from the utility sector and  exports to the Gulf, Iraq and Africa.
