GMC is celebrating 25 years of the HUMMER nameplate with the launch of the 2027 HUMMER EV ICON | 25, a limited-run edition that pays tribute to one of the automotive industry’s most recognisable off-road brands.

The anniversary model features a modern interpretation of the original HUMMER H2’s distinctive yellow paintwork, alongside exclusive interior details, serialized badging and heritage-inspired infotainment graphics. Available on both the Pickup and SUV in 2X and 3X trims, the special edition will enter production later this year at GM’s Factory ZERO Assembly Center in Detroit and Hamtramck, Michigan.

Originally derived from the military High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (Humvee), the civilian HUMMER quickly became a cultural phenomenon after entering the consumer market in the early 2000s. The production HUMMER H2 debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2002, establishing the brand as a mainstream icon known for its imposing design and off-road capability. The smaller H3 followed in 2004, broadening the brand’s appeal while maintaining its rugged credentials.

Following the discontinuation of the original HUMMER brand in 2010, General Motors revived the nameplate a decade later under GMC, reimagining it as an all-electric vehicle. The GMC HUMMER EV Pickup was unveiled in 2020, with the SUV joining the range shortly afterwards as production ramped up at the company’s Factory ZERO facility.

The latest 2027 HUMMER EV lineup continues that evolution, offering features including four-wheel steer with CrabWalk and King Crab, bidirectional vehicle-to-home charging, Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance technology, and up to 1,160hp in the 3X Pickup variant.

Michael MacPhee, Global Vice President of Buick and GMC, said: “Twenty-five years ago, HUMMER first captured attention and established itself as an immediate icon. Today, HUMMER remains instantly recognizable as an all-electric supertruck that continues to turn heads.”

The HUMMER EV ICON | 25 made its public debut at the 2026 ESPYS in New York and is expected to go on sale in the US and Canada following the start of production later this year. Pricing has yet to be announced.
