This week, we learned that one of the biggest champions of the manufacturing industry is moving to pastures new.
Clare Porter, who has been Head of Manufacturing at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) since 2014, announced she was moving away from industry on LinkedIn.
She posted: “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Head of Public Sector Research Establishment Strategy and Sponsorship at Department for Science, Innovation and Technology!”
The Manufacturer team, would like to thank Clare for her amazing and steadfast contribution to the UK manufacturing sector over the past nine years. A huge supporter of industry and a member of the Manufacturing and Engineering Week Industry Advisory Council, Clare’s passion for championing everything UK manufacturing has been unrelenting during her time at BEIS. We wish Clare all the best for the future and hope to maintain our close relationship going forward. Thank you for everything, Clare!
Reacting to the news of Clare’s departure from industry, Mike Wilson, Chief Engineer – Automation, MTC, said: “Congratulations Clare Porter. Thank you for all your support and enthusiasm in driving forward UK manufacturing. It has been a pleasure working with you. Very best wishes for the future.”
