Make UK has announced the date of this year’s National Manufacturing Day.
National Manufacturing Day 2025 will take place on 25 September, providing an opportunity for manufacturers to open their doors and give visitors a unique behind-the scenes look at the innovative and varied jobs on offer in this highly paid sector of British industry.
With companies from a plethora of manufacturing verticals taking part, visitors will get the chance to take part in hand-on workshops and speak to current staff about the fast career progression and opportunities available.
Last year, more than 250 businesses opened their doors on National Manufacturing Day to take part in a variety of activities, including building their own aeroplane, designing circuit boards from scratch, 3-D printing, virtual welding and even how lifeboats start production as simple composites.
Students, parents and other visitors will also have the opportunity to talk to current apprentices about their paid training, as well as delving into the roles of marketing, planning and research which drive the innovations of tomorrow.
How can I take part in NMD 2025?
Manufacturers who are interested in signing up for National Manufacturing Day can do so here, with businesses that were involved in 2024 simply needing to update their pledges to be included again this year. Even if you’re planning to take part for the first time, Make UK just needs your business name and a contact email so they can get in touch to help make your National Manufacturign Day a success.
One benefit of signing up is that your business will be added to Make UK’s interactive map, enabling people in your local area to easily see what you’re planning.

National Manufacturing Day isn’t just a day for inspiring career-minded school, college and university students though, it’s also a chance for staff to show off their own hard work and achievements, with many companies inviting employees’ friends and family to see their place of work.
